In general, "bear" or "bearish" means a trend downwards. This may be for a particular currency or for a market in general.


The price at which someone offers to buy something. For example, a market maker offering to buy a currency from you when you are a trader.

Bid Ask Spread

When a market maker offers to buy a currency as a "bid" price, and offers to sell it at an “ask” price, then the “bid ask spread” is the difference between the two.

Bollinger Bands

Bollinger bands are an indicator of volatility in a currency price. In a ranging market where the price continues to increase and decrease, they usually stay a certain distance apart. If they converge, then this may indicate a new trend.

Bretton Woods Agreement

A historical agreement to fix the exchange rates between currencies of different countries, but abandoned in favor of floating currency rates.
