Kenya's Inflation Rises To 4.51% In December

(forexfounders News) - Kenya's inflation rate rose to 4.5% in December from 3.8% in November, figures released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics showed Friday. That was the highest rate in ten months.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages were 7.84% expensive, while prices for alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics rose 5.07%. Clothing and footwear prices increased 2.92%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 1.41%, the statistical agency said.

Kenya's central bank has a medium-term inflation target of 5%. Consumer price inflation has remained below the target since March 2010.
